Is website age matters for Google Adsense approval?

I was chatting with another website owner yesterday, and we ended up debating something interesting about Google AdSense.

He said he waited nearly a year before applying because he believed older websites are more likely to get approved. Another person insisted they got approved with a site that was only a few weeks old because it had high-quality content and followed all the policies.

Now I'm curious...

Does the age of a website actually matter for AdSense approval, or is it mostly about content quality, originality, and meeting Google's policies?
